peterborough guitar lessons
I give one-to-one guitar lessons in Peterborough, as well as group guitar lessons, bass lessons and songwriting lessons in my Peterborough studio. I'm a band coach, music director and run the Gizz Butt Rock Academy. I'm currently in English Dogs , The More I See and the Dizzy Miss Lizzys. I have been in the Prodigy, Janus Stark, Sabbat (Andy Sneap), The Fields Of The Nephilim, Steve Ignorant (Crass) and The Destructors. I have played live with The Foo Fighters and Pete Best (The Beatles). At 13 I was fusing Punk and Metal ideas and helped create the "crossover" genre which influenced Thrash Metal. I love all rock techniques and theory and I'm endorsed by Ibanez, Peavey, Ernie Ball and Jim Dunlop. My life changed when a writer from Kerrang put me forward to the Prodigy ...

Testimonials.
  • "Gizz is one of the UK's finest guitarists. It was basically him that got me into music and for that I'm grateful. An exponent of any style , his passion and drive still burn as strong today as they always have. Learn well from an old master."
    — Les Wheeler, Drummer (The Replicas)
  • "I have been learning the guitar with Gizz for the last two years and his enthusiasm for guitaring is infectious. I am now obsessed with learning techniques and mastering some of my favourite guitar tracks of all time. Gizz has such a lovely style of teaching and is very patient. I really look forward to his lessons and am so pleased with the progress I have made over the last two years.

My musical tastes range from the Beatles to heavy rock and reggae and Gizz has been able to teach me all of these styles. With Gizz you become a competent guitarist very quickly and then spend time really taking your skills to the next level. I now desperately want to get cast in a film where I can show off the skills that Gizz has taught me."
    — David Proud, Actor (Eastenders)
  • "I have worked with Gizz on many occasions and his amazingly unique style and understanding of the guitar lead Exit State to ask Gizz if he would lay down a solo on our new album on the track All For You. Gizz didn't disappoint whatsoever as he performed an incredibly moving and technical original piece of guitar solo.

One of the very finest guitarists around today."
    — Roy Bright, Vocalist and Guitarist (Exit State)
  • "As a producer an artist manager, I worked with a lot of musicians but I was astonished when I suggested a 30 second guitar solo to Gizz by singing it, and he repeated it 100% on the guitar. What a comprehension combined with amazing skills! I really want to recommend him to anyone who needs a guitar player, no matter live or in the studio."
    — Flo V. Schwarz, Producer/Songwriter/Musician/Label Manager (Hamburg Rec)
  • "I had my guitar lessons with Gizz while I was still at school, whilst studying for my GCSE music, and they always were a favourite part of my day (and not just because it got me out of maths lessons)!

As Gizz is a friend of my Dad's we shared the liking of Punk music, so we often used to play some old songs by SLF or The Clash, at the same time as learning the techniques I needed to pass my GCSE!

I now play guitar and sing in popular local band The Replicas, and I utilise what Gizz taught me, not just when I play a guitar solo, but also setting up my equipment to!

I would definitely recommend Gizz, for those wanting lessons, regardless of skill level, as my lessons were always tailored to my abilities, and to get the best from them!"
    — Luke Allport, Singer / Guitarist (The Replicas)
  • "Anyone who takes their playing seriously will eventually realise they need a tutor. I'd been noodling for years without any direction and discipline and as a result had made no improvement whatsoever.

After a chance meeting I took lessons with Gizz regularly for a year and can only say its the best thing I've done as a guitarist. Gizz doesn't judge or make you play stuff you don't want to play, he realises were all individuals with different goals, styles and unique paths and he's out to figure that out for you just as a proper coach, tutor and mentor should. He's an amazing guitarist and musician and his ability to direct and inspire your playing will keep you coming back for more. I would recommend him to anyone wanting to play any style at any level, in fact the higher the level you are the more you will gain."
    — Tim Coulton, Lead Guitar (The Blues Volcano)
